Following their return from the Tashkent International Migration Forum (TIMF), held on May 18–19, 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, executive members of Work Global Canada Inc. said they were impressed by the forum’s scope and grateful for the opportunity to participate in its inaugural edition.
Convened by Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the event served as an important international platform for dialogue on labour mobility, migrant protection, and cross-border cooperation.
Participation in the forum enabled the company’s leadership to engage directly with government officials, international organizations, employers, and migration stakeholders on issues of shared strategic importance.
“This marks my third visit to Uzbekistan in as many years, and each trip has strengthened my appreciation for the country’s openness, ambition, and growing role in international labour mobility,” said Paul Shelley, President and CEO of Work Global Canada Inc. “It was a privilege to take part in the Tashkent International Migration Forum and contribute to high-level discussions on the future of responsible international workforce cooperation.”
The forum further reinforced Uzbekistan’s growing importance as a potential source of skilled workers for Canada, particularly as Canadian employers continue to seek responsible and well-managed international partnerships to help address labour shortages.
According to post-forum reporting, the event brought together more than 600 participants from over 40 countries, including stakeholders from Germany, the United States, Japan, and other countries across Europe and Asia. For Work Global Canada Inc., the breadth of participation reinforced both the global significance of the forum and Uzbekistan’s emerging value as a partner in workforce development, labour mobility, and long-term international collaboration.
As a next step, Work Global Canada Inc. will continue follow-up discussions initiated during the forum and assess opportunities for future collaboration that align with Canadian employer needs, regulatory requirements, and responsible migration practices.
The company views its participation in TIMF as an important step in strengthening international relationships, advancing practical labour-mobility dialogue, and identifying sustainable partnerships that can contribute to workforce solutions in Canada.
